STARS Mission and it's Goals
The Satellite Technician and Retailer Society is the only non-profit
association dedicated to helping the Technicians and Retailers
in the Satellite/Broadband Industry.
The mission and goals of STARS is to:
- Help the small home-town, mom-n-pop retailers to compete against
the big national dealers by
- teaching them business survival skills
- teaching them how to use and maximize their return on
advertising, co-opting, bookkeeping, tracking payments due
from providers, and other techniques
- showing and teaching them how to diversify into other
low-voltage areas
- teaching their techs the best installation methods
- offering regional vendor and training expos
- providing an on-line referral system that will direct
customers to local dealers
- Help the independent and in some part, the employee-installers
by
- teaching them how to diversify and expand their talents
into other areas of low-voltage systems
- offering them the largest, in-depth on-line resource for
learning how to do just about any type of low-voltage job,
with photos, examples, diagrams, tips from experienced experts,
specialty tools, etc.
- offering hands-on training when needed
- offering certification courses by member-trainers and/or
vendor trainers
- offering regional vendor and training expos
- teaching technician business survival skills, bookkeeping,
etc.
- providing an on-line referral system that will direct
customers to local technicians
- Adopt standards that are accepted by the entire satellite
industry
- Provide consumers with the knowledge they need to make an
informed decision about their potential purchase
- Give consumers faith in their local dealers and technicians
that the job will be done professionally and correctly the first
time
- Give consumers the assurance that they have a local dealer
they can always rely on for future purchases and service
- Provide a community of like-minded people that share resources
and ideas for the betterment of their fellow dealers and technicians
- Teach the dealers and technicians the principles of customer
retention and customer share
